Damaged 6 Berth Motorhome

Rebuilding the side of a 6 Berth Motorhome

Case Studies, Tourism

A major repair was required quickly on this damaged motorhome.

Client

A National motorhome rental company preparing for peak Christmas demand.

Project Overview

A 6-berth rental motorhome was delivered to our workshop after sustaining significant damage in a road accident. The side entrance door had been torn off, taking part of the side wall, the entrance step, and most of the lower side trim with it. With the client relying on this vehicle for their busy holiday season, the turnaround timeframe was just two weeks.

Our Approach

Working to an accelerated schedule, our team:

  • Stripped back all damaged material, removing the entrance door, side windows, and exterior lockers for full access.
  • Rebuilt the entry structure, including a new custom-fabricated entrance step.
  • Constructed and installed a new side wall section, ensuring structural integrity before fibreglassing it into place.
  • Cut and installed a new door opening, then fitted a replacement house door.
  • Reinstalled the side lockers and kitchen window, restoring original functionality.
  • Refurbished the interior, including relining the entranceway with matching carpet.
  • Manufactured custom mouldings for both the front edge trim and the lower side wall trim to ensure a seamless finish.

Outcome

After all components were rebuilt and refitted, the motorhome was cleaned and sent for final exterior painting. It was returned to the rental company within the required timeframe and immediately placed back into service for the Christmas peak.

The result: a structurally sound, cosmetically seamless repair delivered under pressure—showcasing our team’s capability in complex composite and interior rebuilds, fast turnarounds, and precision workmanship.
