Mad Campers was founded in 2017 by three kiwi blokes who believe the best way to see our beautiful country is to experience every inch of the way. Their passion for exploring NZ’s great outdoors has led them to the campervan industry, where they are fanatical about delivering the best possible vans, service and experiences to their customers.
The Challenge
Mad Campers were looking to offer the best camper in New Zealand for solo travel, without compromising on style!
They were looking to design a smaller car which could house a permanent single bed, a kitchen, and still have room to stand up.
The Solution
Mad Campers came to us with a semi-designed concept plan of a unique high roof to fit a small car. From there we were able to work with them to refine the concept and then build a mould to their budget, and can now produce as many roofs as they require!
The end result was the NoMAD Camper, New Zealand’s first solo self-contained campervan with room to stand up.

The crew at Mad Campers are incredibly proud of the camper fit out which boasts:
- A fully functional kitchenette with fridge, sink, gas cooker, and storage
- Large single bed (2000mm x 680mm)
- Room to stand! With 1900mm of height in the lounge of your camper, and heaps of space with a 600mm x 700mm lounge.

Why They Chose Us
Mad Campers had been working with Andrew and the team at The Composite Group for several years because they saw we have the experience to develop high quality fibreglass products, often with very short turnaround timeframes! TCG assisted Mad Campers in developing a custom shower cubicle for one of their larger campers, so they had faith they would be able to deliver on this project as well.
