Overview

Wyma Engineering required food-grade, easy-to-clean components for a commercial vegetable polisher used in produce processing environments. The machine operates in wet, high-throughput conditions where hygiene, durability, and washdown efficiency are critical.

Wyma engaged The Composite Group to design and manufacture the moulds and then produce the finished fibreglass articles for the machine. The project required close collaboration to ensure compliance, cleanability, and repeatable production quality.

The Challenge

  • Produce a cosmetically appealing product, that suited the high-end machine that the fibreglass parts were being fitted to.

The Solution

The Composite Group worked alongside Wyma’s engineering team from early design through to production.

  • Custom fibreglass moulds were designed with smooth radii, minimal joins, and integrated drainage to eliminate dirt traps.
  • Superior resins and gelcoats were selected to meet hygiene and safety requirements and create seamless, non-porous surfaces.
  • Moulds were engineered for long-term durability, ensuring consistent surface finish across production runs.
  • Finished fibreglass components were manufactured in-house and supplied ready for integration into the final machine assembly.
