When O-Studio Founder Tim Bateman approached us, he shared his vision for a new kind of wellness experience – a network of modern, calming centres where people could train both body and mind. Central to his O-Studio concept was a purpose-built float cabin that would enhance the restorative environment he aimed to create.
Our Involvement
Tim had a clear idea of the type of float experience he wanted to offer, and we partnered with him to turn that concept into a functional, manufacturable design. Working collaboratively, we refined the float cabin’s structure, features, and materials, and then moved it through to full production.
Our team handled the entire process, including:

The Product
The final float cabins are a key feature in O-Studio’s wellness offering. Designed for calm, comfort, and performance, they provide a premium sensory experience for users.

- Spacious interior: Designed for full body extension and comfort
- Effortless flotation: 500 kg of Epsom salt dissolved in warm water keeps the body naturally buoyant
- Customisable environment: Users can float in complete darkness and silence or choose soft lighting and gentle sounds
- Focus on tranquillity: Every element of the design supports relaxation, recovery, and mental clarity
These cabins offer a peaceful escape where users can let go of stress, ease muscle tension, and experience deep mental and physical reset.
The Outcome
The float cabins have become a signature element within O-Studio’s wellness centres, helping to create a consistent, high-quality experience across locations around New Zealand. The collaboration brought Tim’s vision to life, delivering a product that is both visually refined and engineered for long-term commercial use.
